The Shore Sirens race team has been keeping the stoke levels high through July and August!
Members of the team travelled to Vernon to race at the Bombshell Enduro on July 12th. The course involved 6 stages of a mix of downhill and cross-country racing over 34.5 km and 1655m elevation gain (assisted by a couple chairlifts!) across Silverstar Bike Park and Sovereign Lake trails. Marisa Myrah came home with an 8th place finish out of 34 racers in the Masters Category! Gaby Jones, Emma Kenny, and Mia Shippey respectively finished 12th, 23rd, and 32nd out of 79 racers in the Open Category.

Jaime Hill of Hilltop MTB provided the team with a day of coaching in Squamish to brush up on body positioning, braking, and race line choice skills. The coaching paid off for the team at their next race in Whistler, the Witsend Enduro on August 23rd.
Racing the Witsend
Race day was a hot one and the racers had a choice to ride the full long course (26.9 km distance and 1384m elevation) or the short course (14.3 km distance and 705m elevation). Kudos to Hanna Girndt and Mia Shippey, who chose to race the long course while Jessie Curell, Gaby Jones, and Emma Kenny chose the short course. Jessie and Gaby both had podium finishes, with Jessie in 2nd place and Gaby in 3rd.

Finishing off the season
The team has a couple more races to round out the season, with the Coaltown Throwdown in Cumberland on September 13th and the NSMBA Women+ Enduro - come out and race, volunteer, or show your support for women+ racers on the Fromme trails on September 20th!
